Refresh Rate vs Frame Rate: What Are the Differences?

Refresh rate and frame rate are common parameters when you buy a device for playing games. If you want to choose a good gaming projector, you need to know their difference.

Both refresh rate and frame rate are important indicators to describe the display responsiveness and smooth motion.

Refresh rate describes the display images update frequency but frame rate describes the number of images or frames that a projector sends to the display per second.

Refresh rate is measured in Hz while the frame rate is measured by FPS (frames per second).

How to Determine Projector Refresh Rate and Frame Rate?

For Projector Refresh Rate

If you use the projector to watch a movie, the projector refresh rate of 60Hz or above is recommended; but if you use the projector to play games, 120 Hz or above is recommended.

For Projector Frame Rate

The frame rate of 24 FPS is sufficient to watch common movies or videos. However, if you want to get a better gaming experience, the Frame rate should be higher than 30 FPS. Some games even require a high frame rate of 144fps to 200fps.
