Formovie THEATER, BenQ V7050i, and Dangbei Mars Pro are both hot 4K projector options on the market. What are the differences between them? Which is the best choice?
Through the table below, we can find that all of the three projectors have 4K resolution and laser light sources. Dangbei Mars Pro is the cheapest and the brightest among the three projectors. Formovie THEATER has the shortest throw ratio and the most HDMI interfaces. BenQ V7050i has ultra-short throw and the same price as Formovie THEATER.
Then, we will compare the three projectors in terms of appearance, image, throw ratio, system, connectivity, and audio.
Formovie THEATER adopts matt cosmos grey as the main color and the shapes are rectangular. You can see the logo of Formovie on the front panel. The lens module is located in the groove of the top panel. The vents are located at the side panels.
BenQ V7050i has a similar design to Formovie THEATER. The projector adopts matt black as the main color and has blue lines on the side panel. The lens module is located at the groove on the top panel. There is a slide cover to protect the lens module from dust accumulation. The heat dissipation vents are also located at the side panels.
Dangbei Mars Pro has an obvious design compared with the other two projectors. It adopts glass IML suspension panels and aircraft-grade aluminum frames, which are futuristic and cool. There is a tactile button on the top panel, bringing comfortable touch. Dangbei Mars Pro has three panels for heat dissipation, including two side panels and the back panels. The overall lines are sleek and delicate.
Regarding size and weight, Dangbei Mars Pro is the lightest and the smallest.
Formovie THEATER, BenQ V7050i, and Dangbei Mars Pro have the same 4K resolution but they have different brightness and screen size.
In terms of brightness, Formovie THEATER has 2,800 ANSI lumens, BenQ V7050i has 2,500 ANSI lumens while Dangbei Mars Pro has 3,200 ANSI lumens. That’s to say, Dangbei Mars Pro is the brightest among the three projectors.
Brightness is one of the top considerations when you choose a projector. The brightness determines whether you can use the projector under ambient light. If the projector has a low brightness, then you can only use the projector at night; if you use the projector during the daytime, the projection image may be dim and blurry.
Regarding screen size, Formovie THEATER has a max screen of 150 inches; BenQ V7050i has the max screen size of 123”; Dangbei Mars Pro has the max screen of 300 inches.
Formovie THEATER and BenQ V7050i have an ultra-short throw ratio, while Dangbei Mars Pro has a common throw. Specifically, Formovie THEATER has a throw ratio of 0.23:1; BenQ V7050i has a throw ratio of 0.252:1, while Dangbei Mars Pro has a throw ratio of 1.27:1.
What does the projector throw ratio mean? If a projector has a short throw, it can project a bigger screen from a shorter throw distance (the distance from the projector and the screen) compared with a projector with a common throw. However, projectors with ultra-short throws usually have a smaller max screen size compared with projectors with a common throw.
Formovie THEATER, BenQ V7050i, and Dangbei Mars Pro have a built-in Android system, which enables users to download apps conveniently.
Regarding memory, Formovie THEATER and Dangbei Mars Pro have built-in memory while BenQ V7050i has no built-in memory. Formovie THEATER has 2G RAM and 32G ROM while Dangbei Mars Pro has 4G RAM and 128G ROM. The large memory can ensure a smooth operation and a large capacity for file storage.
Formovie THEATER, BenQ V7050i, and Dangbei Mars Pro are all equipped with HDMI interface, USB, and audio input and output interfaces. But Formovie THEATER has one more HDMI interface than the other two projectors, while BenQ V7050i has one more USB interface than the other two projectors.

A good audio effect contributes greatly to the viewing effect. Formovie THEATER and Dangbei Mars Pro support Dolby Audio and DTS but BenQ V7050i doesn’t.
In terms of speakers, Formovie THEATER has a total of 30W built-in speakers; BenQ V7050i has two 5W speakers (10W in total); Dangbei has a total of 20W speakers.
Regarding the noise, BenQ V7050i has the biggest noise (34/29dB (Typ./Eco.)) among the three projectors followed by Formovie THEATER (<28dB). Dangbei Mars Pro produces the lowest noise among the three projectors.
Formovie THEATER is better than BenQ V7050i in terms of brightness, throw ratio, screen size, and audio effect. However, Dangbei Mars Pro is better in image brightness, screen size, and cost-efficiency.
